Atticus rastrella il 6% delle azioni NYSE (NYX)

Atticus Capital, un Hedge Fund molto attivo sui mercati, ha dichiarato di essere arrivato a possedere 9,4 milioni di azioni NYSE Group Inc. (NYX) e di essere ora il principale azionista della società con una quota di circa il 6%.

Un portavoce di Atticus Capital ha aggiunto che a loro avviso il titolo è sottostimato dal mercato che sottovaluta le possibilità di crescita dell'utile e del valore nel lungo periodo, affermando implicitamente che per il fondo non si tratta di un investimento speculativo di corto respiro.

Hedge Fund Loves the NYSE

Atticus Capital, a hedge fund known for its occasionally bare-knuckled activism, disclosed in a federal filing that it now owns 9.41 million NYSE Group shares -- likely making it the Big Board's largest single shareholder. The stake comes out to roughly 6% of the NYSE's outstanding stock and is worth $688 million at Monday's quote. An Atticus spokesman told the TheStreet.com Monday that that the fund is "an investor and believer in the global exchange sector." With respect to the NYSE, the spokesman said, Atticus believes the "market underestimated the company's earnings power and the long term franchise value."
